Duties/Responsibilities

We are recruiting a permanent mobile Fire and Security engineer to cover Hampshire and surrounding areas. A company van for business use and a fuel card are provided.

Location: Hampshire and Surrounding areas

Salary: £40,000 plus Van and Fuel Card

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, with 1 hour for lunch

Benefits: 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays, Flex Benefits (EMCOR UK discount scheme), Overtime paid at x1.5 (Monday to Sunday)

Role to cover the on-call Rota, currently 1 in 4. Callout standby paid at £125.00 per week. Additional pay: £13.00 per day Mon-Fri, £30.00 per day Sat/Sun and bank holidays. Individual callouts are paid at time-and-a-half, for a minimum of 4 hours or the total time including travel, whichever is greater.

UK-wide travel may be required occasionally. The ideal candidate would reside near Hampshire.

Job Purpose:

Provide support to on-site engineers and clients, performing system maintenance, reactive and small or extra works on CCTV, access control, security systems, automatic fire, fire extinguishing, and fire aspiration alarm systems for both internal and external clients. A multi-disciplined background in Fire and Security is preferred, with experience working with large commercial clients and various manufacturers.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance, upgrades, system repairs, and modifications per contract requirements. Maintain communication with service centres and clients regarding KPIs and SLAs.

Resource Responsibilities:
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance, repairs, small works, and system commissioning as per client requests and requirements.
  • Prepare dilapidation reports for new contracts and recommend improvements or changes.
  • Assist with design, support, and quotations following British Standards.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and EMCOR UK.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and standards are followed to uphold contract integrity and service quality.
  • Maintain high standards in all activities to satisfy external quality verification.
  • Adhere to health, safety, security, environmental, and technical policies, including risk assessments and PPE use.
  • Complete all works in accordance with British Standards and good practices.
  • Submit timesheets, mileage, and administrative paperwork timely.
  • Coordinate closely with the EMCOR Service Centre.
  • Follow up on non-compliance and recommendations with quotations or build-up sheets.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum 5 years' experience servicing, maintaining, and installing CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, intercoms, and fire systems. Multi-disciplinary skills and knowledge of relevant British Standards, NSI, LPCB standards, and advanced diagnostics are required. Experience with permits, method statements, risk assessments, PC and LAN/WAN networking, system design, surveying, estimating, and scheduling is essential.

Person Specification
  • Proven experience in a similar role or environment.
  • GCSEs and City & Guilds or equivalent in electronic equipment installation.
  • Experience with fire and security systems, networking, and PC software configuration.
  • Knowledge of British Standards and NACP.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Familiar with permits, method statements, risk assessments.
  • Advanced networking skills, OS operation, and system design experience.
