FINANCIAL CONTROLLER - SOUTHAMPTON

I am excited to be the exclusive recruitment partner to this incredible retail brand that has risen from founder lead start up to almost 50 stores nationwide in six years! They have ambitious plans to dominate the UK market through both acquisition (several currently in play) and organic growth, and now need to recruit their first ever Financial Controller to insource finance, put all processes and systems in from scratch, work through historical issues around stock control, VAT, credit control, supplier payments and take them through their first ever audit, whilst integrating in acquisitions, building your own team, developing a technology strategy and delivering it.

This role is based at their Southampton HQ with the opportunity to work from home 3 days a week, and can offer up to £90k P/A plus bonus and benefits.

It would ideally suit a qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge, and eye for detail, an innovative nature and the confidence to present to C-suite.

Duties:

• To insource all financial accounting and tax activities from their outsourced provider
• To map out resource, and begin to build out a finance team inhouse
• Responsible for ensuring the completion of monthly management accounts, in line with Group deadlines
• Responsible for the integrity of the balance sheet through regular monthly reconciliations and reviews
• Co-ordinating the management of cash flow and cash flow projections across the business
• Ensure the business follows all required internal procedures and legislation
• Own the annual audit, liaising with the external auditors and other stakeholders
• Drive the month end review process and year end close to gain clear understanding of P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet performance Financial Planning & Analysis
• Preparation of annual financial budgets and periodic forecasts for P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
• Improve and embed 'FP&A' quality reporting across the leadership
• Support Head of commercial finance in improving the quality of commercial insight / commentary of business performance and developing "business partnering" capability
• Prepare and deliver commercial performance reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Drive improvements in reporting tools and processes to ensure accurate, timely data
• Develop and extend the use of a fit for purpose ERP and related technology tools across the group companies, to improve financial insight and monthly reporting
• Work with other Teams to standardise and streamline operations through process and systems changes
• To support M&A activities, and integrate acquisitions

• A highly competitive base salary of between £75,000 and £90,000 p/a based on the candidate's experience.
