Southampton - Hybrid (2-3 days per week onsite)

A visible, high-impact interim role for a technically strong Financial Controller to take ownership of governance, reporting and financial control within a nationally recognised organisation. Sitting at the centre of finance operations and transformation, this position requires both technical rigour and confident leadership across systems, compliance and continuous improvement.

You will lead central finance operations across billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, and cost, inventory and revenue accounting, ensuring strong processes, accountability and accuracy across core activities. Ownership of month-end and year-end close will sit firmly with you, delivering timely, high-quality reporting that supports confident decision making at senior level.

A key focus will be maintaining and enhancing the accounting framework and financial controls to ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards and shareholder expectations. You will strengthen audit readiness, embed financial policies across the organisation and address non-compliance constructively while promoting robust financial stewardship.

Acting as business owner for Dynamics 365 Finance, you will ensure reporting integrity while shaping a clear roadmap for continuous improvement across processes, data governance and automation, including AI-enabled control approaches. You will also provide clear technical accounting insight and informed recommendations that influence strategic direction.

Experience required

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with experience preparing annual statutory accounts
  • Proven leadership of high-performing finance teams
  • Strong finance systems knowledge (Dynamics 365 desirable)
  • Track record of strengthening controls and improving processes

This is a role for a finance leader who combines technical depth with operational authority and wants their expertise to have immediate, visible impact across the organisation.
