Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

Paying up to £120,000 with Bonus


On behalf of a rapidly expanding, private equity-backed insurance business, we are currently supporting the search for a high-calibre Financial Controller to join their Finance Leadership Team. This is a senior-level appointment offering significant scope, visibility,and influence across the organisation during a key period of strategic growth and European expansion.


The successful candidate will take on a broad and impactful role, leading financial and regulatory reporting, business performance analysis, and financial control, while also playing a pivotal role in finance transformation and leadership development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decisions and business planning.
  • Lead the delivery of all core financial, regulatory, and statutory reporting requirements under UK GAAP and IFRS, maintaining a robust and effective financial control environment.
  • Oversee the monthly reporting cycle, including the preparation of detailed reporting packs for the CFO and executive team-highlighting performance drivers, budget variances, and emerging risks or opportunities.
  • Drive finance change initiatives, including automation of reporting processes and optimisation of systems and controls.
  • Act as a key finance representative in cross-functional business projects, including new product and market expansion initiatives.
  • Manage the external audit relationship, ensuring an efficient and well-controlled audit process.
  • Ensure that financial reporting remains fully compliant with relevant standards, internal policies, and evolving technical requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five finance professionals, promoting continuous improvement and high performance.


Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience within financial services, ideally in the insurance or broader FS sector.
  • Strong technical expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS, with a proven ability to lead complex regulatory and statutory reporting processes.
  • Candidates with experience at Big 4 level (Senior Manager or Director) in FS/Insurance audit will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing finance teams, as well as influencing at senior stakeholder level.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial matters for non-finance stakeholders and present confidently to executives and auditors.
  • Comfortable managing relationships across multiple departments including Risk, IT, Tax, and Treasury, and engaging directly with PE stakeholders.
  • Skilled in driving process improvement and systems optimisation within fast-paced and regulated environments.
