Are you a highly astute and proactive finance professional with a passion for purpose-driven financial management? Do you have experience working within the Charity / Charitable Trust Sector?
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Financial Accountant to join a prestigious private bank in London. This is a vital role, focused on supporting the bank's charitable activities by serving as a key financial expert for their Charitable Trust. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your accounting skills in a purpose-driven environment, contributing to continuous improvement and high-quality financial reporting.
You will play a central part in the financial management of the trust, preparing and presenting financial information for stakeholders to enable informed decision-making. Your work will also involve monitoring the impact of new IT transformations and serving as an expert resource for colleagues across the bank. You will be responsible for leading the transformation of the ledger system from QuickBooks to SUN, a key project for the bank.
Candidates must have proven experience in financial management within the charity sector.
Duties of the Financial Accountant (Charity Sector) to include:
Statutory Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and present monthly statutory accounts for the Trust.
- Manage the year-end audit process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all required information.
- Specialise in the accounting for charitable funds, including investments and donations.
- Conduct financial analysis, challenging numbers and performance to ensure transparency and accuracy in reporting.
- Assist with the production and improvement of monthly Committee papers.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process simplification and enhanced operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation of new technology, including potential AI solutions, to streamline operations and improve financial management.
- Develop and maintain robust operational procedures to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for colleagues seeking advice on financial and non-financial implications.
- Take a balanced approach to decision-making that aligns with the values and principles of the bank.
Requirements for the successful Financial Accountant (Charity Sector) to include:
- Candidates MUST be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience in the charity sector.
- Strong understanding of FRS102, with a good grasp of the Charities SORP.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel and general ledgers (experience with SUN, Quickbooks, or Infor BI is a plus).
- Experience in generating charity accounts under FRS102.
- Proven track record of enhancing processes and developing accounting ledgers.
- An understanding of charity funds and the accounting for financial investments.
