Finance Manager - Commercial/Projects

This is a key opportunity for a commercially minded Finance Manager ready to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational excellence, and leading on a variety of different projects as the business grows.

With the business going through a period of change, they will need the new finance person to be on site to work closely with warehousing & transport; this may have some flexibility around it.

The Role: Finance Manager

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead a small, dedicated finance team and work closely with senior stakeholders across the group. You will be responsible for all aspects of the financial operations of a business currently turning over circa £10m, while offering finance support to the leadership team, and insight into growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all core finance operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management

• Deliver accurate and timely monthly and statutory financial reports

• Manage the audit process and ensure full compliance with reporting standards

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned to long-term business objectives

• Partner with operational teams to deliver insightful analysis, improve profitability, and challenge costs

• Identify and mitigate financial risks

• Support capital expenditure planning and business case evaluations

• Provide commercial support to the MD, including involvement in funding projects and contract negotiations

• Review and challenge commercial proposals, identifying key risks and opportunities

• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team

• Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders across the group

About You:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)

• Background in movement of goods, FMCG sector is highly desirable but not essential

• Previous experience developing a small finance team

• Excellent commercial acumen with strong analytical skills

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders

What's on Offer:

• Salary circa £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, (possibly higher dependent on person and experience)
