Job Description

Finance Assistant & Payroll Lead - 12 Month FTC

Location: Camberley
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Working pattern: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant & Payroll Lead to join a well-established business for a 12 month FTC.

This is a varied role combining transactional finance and payroll, with responsibility for the monthly payroll of around 200 employees, alongside supporting the wider finance team across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Key Responsibilities

Finance

  • Monthly sales invoice creation and distribution
  • Accounts receivable reconciliations and cash allocation
  • Chasing outstanding and aged debts
  • Daily bank transactions and bank reconciliations
  • Investigating unallocated and misallocated payments
  • Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Dealing with supplier invoice queries
  • Reviewing aged creditor reports
  • Supporting month-end deadlines
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis, including year-end audit information

Payroll

  • Full responsibility for monthly payroll for approximately 200 employees
  • Processing payroll for predominantly hourly-paid employees
  • Processing hours, commissions, bonuses, taxes and deductions
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Processing starters, leavers, promotions and employee changes
  • Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Responding to employee payroll queries
  • Preparing and issuing payslips
  • Completing monthly and annual HMRC submissions
  • Preparing payroll reports
  • Providing information to external advisors
  • Supporting HR and Operations with TUPE transfers

About You

  • 2-5 years' experience across finance and payroll
  • Strong attention to detail and discretion
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience across transactional finance, ideally AP and AR
  • Good understanding of payroll and HMRC submissions
  • Understanding of VAT recovery processes
  • Proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues
  • Comfortable working as part of a wider finance team
  • Ability to improve processes
  • AAT qualification/studies advantageous
