Our client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) to provide technical field support to customers worldwide. This role involves ensuring the stable operation, installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimisation of advanced hardware and software systems, including fire control systems, naval electro optical surveillance systems, and land/vehicle surveillance platforms.
This is a dynamic, customer facing position requiring both technical expertise and strong commercial awareness. The successful candidate will support installations, repairs, demonstrations, and system testing, both in house and at customer sites globally.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct offsite repairs and servicing of complex hardware and software systems.
- Install and commission new products at customer locations worldwide.
- Provide after sales support and ongoing system maintenance.
- Produce detailed post visit and technical reports, including recommendations and future actions.
- Strip down, survey, repair, and test returned customer equipment.
- Support sales activities through product demonstrations and trials.
- Prepare demonstration and trial equipment.
- Test and evaluate new equipment, sensors, and technologies alongside engineering and sales teams.
- Prepare risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for installation and commissioning activities.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and other customer facing technical activities as required.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within customer services.
- Experience maintaining and repairing complex optical systems within military (naval, army, or air force) environments or equivalent civilian systems.
- Strong electronics knowledge, including microcontrollers and basic control theory (servo tuning required).
- Understanding of radar, optics, and communications systems.
- Proven experience in electronic fault finding and system diagnostics.
- Competent mechanical and electro mechanical skills.
- Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, PC architecture, and software troubleshooting, including software loading and updates.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and relationship management skills, particularly in customer facing environments.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to represent the business professionally in complex situations.
- Comfortable working in exposed or challenging environments (land and sea), including working at height and with heavy equipment.
- Willingness to travel worldwide at short notice and work extended hours where required.
- Clean driving licence (Class C1 desirable).
- Knowledge of IT architecture.
- Working knowledge or strong interest in military equipment and procedures.
- Experience delivering customer facing maintenance or operator training.
- Previous SC level security clearance.
- Highly organised, self motivated, and capable of working independently under pressure.
- Flexible, conscientious, and diligent approach.
- Resilient and adaptable in demanding environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- 37.5 hour working week
