Overview of Role

The Field Service/Support Engineer provides highly visible customer support through on-site installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Responsibilities include checking operational quality, instructing customers on operation and maintenance, and serving as a liaison with customers on technical and administrative matters. The role may encompass support for hardware, software, PCs, and networking/wireless systems. This position focuses on providing Cargo Vehicle Inspection (CVI) equipment support for cargo systems in Europe, the former CIS, Central & SW Asia, Middle East, and Africa regions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repair, maintenance, and overhaul of cargo systems (CVI)
  • Conduct troubleshooting and fault finding on CVI systems and subsystems
  • Respond to 3rd line technical requests from sites, engineers, distributors, or customer representatives
  • Provide defect liability or post-acceptance support for CVI mobile or airport cargo equipment
  • Install static, gantry, or portal CVI systems as part of installation teams
  • Travel nationally and internationally up to 90% of the time to regions including Europe, CIS, Central & SW Asia, Middle East, and Africa, including travel to hazardous environments (with additional remuneration)
  • Complete technical documentation such as service reports, engineering change requests, and input service data into a database
Qualifications
  • Qualification in engineering discipline such as BTEC, C&G, or HNC
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and electro/mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of IT networking solutions, CCNP or similar certifications
  • Understanding of integrated IT systems including PLC, HV systems, and radar
  • Willingness to travel globally, often on short notice, to challenging destinations; experience in similar environments is advantageous
