About Us

Spanning the historic streets of the "city of dreaming spires", the University of Oxford has been ranked the world's leading university for ten consecutive years. A place where centuries of tradition meet world changing innovation, we offer you the chance to shape the future while working in an inspiring environment that promotes excellence. Here, you'll contribute to an organisation which delivers ground breaking research that tackles global challenges - from advancing sustainability to pioneering healthcare solutions - and join a diverse, inclusive community that champions your wellbeing, development, and aspirations. Apply now to become part of our extraordinary legacy.

The Oxford Green Estate manages farmland and green spaces that support sustainable farming, biodiversity, and education. Our farm combines commercial agriculture with environmental improvement and research, creating a varied and rewarding place to work.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a 900 acre mixed farm that is part of the University of Oxford's Oxford Green Estate. The farm includes livestock, grassland, and arable crops and plays a critical role in supporting farming, environmental projects, and agricultural research.

As Farm Manager, you will oversee the day to day running of the farm, making sure operations are safe, efficient, and productive. You will plan and manage livestock and cropping activities, coordinate staff and contractors, maintain farm infrastructure, and help manage budgets and farm records.

You will also work closely with research teams and farming partners to support field trials, new farming approaches, and environmental schemes. This is a varied role that offers the chance to be involved in everything from practical farm management to longer term planning and improvement projects.

This is a hands on leadership role with the opportunity to make a real impact on the future of farming and land management. The role requires flexibility to sometimes work outside standard hours, including weekends, in line with operational requirements.

What We Offer

Working at the University of Oxford offers several exclusive benefits, such as:

  • 38 days of annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) to support your wellbeing, with the option to purchase up to 10 extra days and additional leave after long service.
  • One of the most generous family leave schemes in UK higher education, offering up to 26 weeks of full pay maternity and adoption leave, plus 12 weeks of full pay paternity/partner leave.
  • An excellent contributory pension scheme.
  • An on site accommodation is provided.
  • Full use of a farm vehicle is included.
  • Affordable and sustainable commuting options, including a cycle loan scheme, discounted bus travel, and season ticket loans.
  • Access to a vibrant community through our social, cultural, and sports clubs.
About You

You will bring:

  • Proven experience managing mixed farming operations involving both livestock and arable enterprises.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing farm operations, resources, and budgets effectively.
  • Knowledge of agricultural compliance, Health & Safety, and sustainable farming practices.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
