Role: Family Support Practitioner

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum (pro rate)

Location: Paignton, Devon

Contract/Hours: Permanent / Part Time - 25 hours per week (3 full time days 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 3 hours on another weekday).

Please note that this role does involve working occasionally on Saturdays.

About the role

Join an exciting partnership with Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust, supporting the 0 to 19 Torbay initiative. This role offers a varied and meaningful opportunity to support families across Torbay, Torquay and Brixham, providing practical and emotional support for parenting, domestic abuse, substance misuse and wider family challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide one to one family support and parenting, domestic abuse, substance misuse and wider family challenges.
• Complete assessments, create personalised support plans and work closely with partner agencies to ensure families get the right help at the right time.
• Coordinate support for children, young people and families through various interventions - face to face, online or telephone delivery including one to one, group or community based support.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress.
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and build strong relationships with other professionals and partner agencies.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, children, young people and families.
• Manage workload, prioritise tasks and travel across the locality as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• NVQ Level 3 in early years or equivalent with at least two years post qualifying experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of developmental trauma, attachment theory, emotional regulation and attunement.
• Sound knowledge of the impact trauma can have on children's life outcomes.
• Positive and caring attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workloads.
• Experience in home visits.
• Ability to work alone as well as within a team.
• Strong work ethic in a fast paced and challenging environment.
• Full driving licence and access to vehicle.
