Facilities Officer (Mobile)

We are looking for two proactive and customer-focused individuals to join our Facilities team. One role will be a permanent role and the other will be a 12 month fixed term contract, please indicate in your application which role you are applying for.
This varied and hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple sites, delivering excellent customer service, maintaining facilities to a high standard, and ensuring our community spaces are safe, welcoming, and ready for use.
As part of the mobile facilities team, you will help ensure customers can access the right space at the right time, supporting a range of venues including community centres, the Town Hall, sports pavilions, public toilets, cemeteries, and allotments.
Your duties will include:
Customer service and venue support
- welcome customers and provide exceptional service across our facilities
- open and close venues for events and activities, including evenings when required
Facilities maintenance and compliance
- carry out routine repairs and maintenance, including basic carpentry and plumbing
- perform health and safety inspections, fire alarm testing, and security checks
- respond to emergencies and support first aid incidents where appropriately trained
Grounds and community assets
- support the upkeep of allotments, sports pavilions, cemeteries, and public facilities
- assist with strimming, rubbish removal, and general site maintenance
Operational support
- collect, sort, and distribute internal and external mail
- purchase maintenance materials and coordinate contractor repairs
- inspect and maintain our vehicles, pool cars, and pool bikes
- support special events, elections, and other council activities as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- has excellent customer service and communication skills
- enjoys practical, hands-on work in a varied environment
- can work independently and as part of a team
- has experience of basic building maintenance and repairs
- demonstrates good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- is organised, reliable, and flexible in their approach to work
- can manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing demands
The role requires you to work a shift rota including early shifts, late shift, weekend and bank holiday. The standard working week is an average of 37 hours per week on an eight week rolling rota. You will be required to undertake out of hours call out as part of the rota, standby payment will be applied.
A full and current UK driving licence will be an essential requirement of the role.
You will be required to wear a uniform which is provided.
You will have First Aid certification or be willing to undertake training. Once qualified, a First Aid allowance will be payable.
