Job Description

Executive Quantity Surveyor - Clare County Council

Clare County Council invites applications for the position of Executive Quantity Surveyor, who will work as part of a project team and report directly to the Line Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Administer quantity surveying services from project inception to final completion.
  • Carry out feasibility studies.
  • Draw up pricing documents, prepare bills, cost plans, cost estimates and organise project preliminaries.
  • Identify potential risks and take precautions to mitigate them.
  • Procure, administer and manage contract notices for works and related services through e tenders.
  • Analyse contractors' suitability and contractual claims.
  • Manage external consultancies and design teams.
  • Prepare and monitor all formal contract documentation for signing.
  • Monitor project progress, duration, cost controls and contractual matters.
  • Attend regular project team meetings and take minutes.
  • Valuation of construction and building work.
  • Claims and dispute management.
  • Any other duties required from time to time.

Qualifications
  • Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Eligible for registration as a Quantity Surveyor under the Act without further assessment.
  • At least five years satisfactory experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • High standard of technical and administrative experience.
Compensation & Working Hours

Salary is fully inclusive and pays on the council's salary scale. The rate may be adjusted in line with government pay policy. Starting pay for new entrants is the minimum of the scale.

Annual leave entitlement is 30 days per annum.

Working hours are five days, 35 hours per week with flexibility for outside normal hours as required.
