About the Role

We're looking for a dynamic and motivated Execution Trader to join our well respected trading team. Cross asset trading experience would be preferable (particularly derivatives). The trading team is a critical cog within the firm's investment process. Sitting within this team, and reporting into the Head of Trading, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the timely and efficient execution of the orders received from the Portfolio Managers and various systematic models. The team is an integral part of the feedback loop in improving strategy performance by enhancing execution performance. You will gain exposure to the full range of asset classes and markets associated with global macro/quant/Long Short Equity strategies. The team places a strong emphasis on technological development and is actively involved with the enhancement of our OMS/EMS platform. This role offers the potential for significant growth in responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Trading from instructions given by our investment strategy team
• Trading within regulatory restrictions (where applicable)
• Booking trades in portfolio management system
• Provide Portfolio Managers with information about market sentiment, trading environments, volume and price volatility
• Monitoring of execution costs and slippage vs. models
• Liaise with investment strategy team on new assets, strategies and products
• Assist in some internal management reporting metrics
• Communicate effectively with Portfolio Managers and external counterparts

Key Qualities of Our Ideal Candidate

• Educated to bachelor's degree level or higher
• Highly numerate, detailed and with a strong interest in finance and economics
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (prior coding experience useful)
• Experience on a trading desk within a top tier bank or blue chip hedge fund trading both electronically on exchange and OTC
• Exposure to trading derivatives essential
• Ideally with expertise in at least one asset class while also demonstrating a willingness to learn other products
• Familiarity with trading systems, able to demonstrate improvements to processes and/or automate to create efficiencies
• Has an analytical mindset
• Able to communicate clearly, accurately with brevity
