ESG Risk Specialist (Risk and Environmental Scenario Analysis)

Overview

Location: Dublin 2, City Centre. Hybrid: 4 days on site / 1 day remote. Contract: 12-month daily rate (view to extend). Team: ESG Risk (Second Line of Defence/ 2LOD) within Enterprise Risk Management.

Role Purpose

This position will support the implementation of the latest EBA Guidelines on ESG Risk Management, with a particular emphasis on environmental scenario analysis and climate stress testing. The successful candidate will also contribute to the enhancement of the Bank's ESG risk framework, risk assessment processes, and regulatory compliance activities. The role will play an important part in embedding ESG considerations across the Bank's risk management framework, ICAAP, and Prudential Transition Plan (PTP).

Key Responsibilities Environmental Scenario Analysis & Stress Testing

• Assist in the design and execution of climate and environmental scenario analysis programmes in line with evolving EBA requirements.
• Support the integration of ESG scenario outputs into ICAAP, capital planning activities, and risk appetite frameworks.
• Maintain comprehensive methodology documentation to support regulatory reviews and audit requirements.

Prudential Transition Plan (PTP)

• Contribute to the development and annual update of the Bank's Prudential Transition Plan.
• Perform independent second-line review and challenge of key assumptions, methodologies, and outputs.
• Ensure consistency with the ESG Risk Management Framework, risk appetite statements, and regulatory expectations.

ESG Risk Materiality Assessment

• Support the annual ESG risk materiality assessment process.
• Help ensure findings are appropriately reflected within ICAAP, risk appetite, and PTP activities.

ESG Risk Profile & Reporting

• Assist in the development and ongoing enhancement of the Bank's ESG risk profile.
• Support reporting to senior management, the CRO function, and relevant governance committees.

ESG Risk Management Framework

• Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the ESG Risk Management Framework (ESGRMF) and SIDAC Addendum.
• Update associated governance, policy, and procedural documentation as required.

Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain and update the regulatory inventory covering EBA ESG Risk Management and Environmental Scenario Analysis requirements.
• Support gap assessments, control mapping exercises, and regulatory submissions.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with colleagues across Risk, Finance, Business, and Data teams to support ESG risk initiatives.

Experience & Skills

• Banking risk management experience (ICAAP, stress testing, ERM, credit risk)
• Exposure to climate / ESG risk and scenario analysis
• Understanding of regulatory expectations (EBA / ECB / PRA)
• Strong documentation skills, analytical and detail-oriented
• Strong stakeholder engagement
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability, structured and organised

Desirable

• Experience with NGFS scenarios or transition risk methodologies
• Familiarity with PTPs and ESG disclosures
