This is a vacancy at an International event yard with horses ranging from 3 years old to 5 event horses. Andrew is a top event rider with a lovely string of horses. Jobs will include all yard duties, riding and event opportunities and the chance to bring your own horse!

A fantastic opportunity to work on a busy and fun competition yard with a lot of opportunities to learn the skills needed for a career in the industry. Within the role, the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Equine.

Responsibilities

Yard duties will include but not limited to:

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Tacking up
  • Riding/hacking
  • Attending shows/events
Desired skills and qualities
  • Must be able to work alone at times and as part of a team
  • Applicants must have some experience of handling horses and show this on application
  • Applicants must be confident to ride fit and fast horses.

Desired qualifications
  • GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English are desired.

Training
  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship or Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
