Community Protection - Environmental Protection Officer

Salary: £33,366 - £36,124 per annum (Pay Award Pending)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent Post

About the Role

We are seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join our Environmental Protection team. The role involves responsibilities such as pollution control, statutory nuisances, public health funerals, air quality, contaminated land, and consultation on planning and licensing applications. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone interested in Environmental Health to gain or develop practical experience in frontline duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a personal caseload of investigations, compliance, and complaint inspections.
  • Providing advice and guidance to the public, service users, and partners.
  • Working with support from senior colleagues and specialist officers.
Candidate Profile
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet use.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels with good planning and prioritization skills.
  • Possession of a full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential.
Working Arrangements

We support flexible working arrangements, including working from home and flexible hours. The role requires being based in the office at least two days a week, attending meetings, and occasional out-of-hours work (around 10 times a year).
