Job Description
Environmental & Planning Officer

Full-Time Contract Role. Monday to Friday 40+ Hours Per Week. Competitive Salary & Benefits Package.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated environmental professional to take ownership of environmental and planning functions across multiple sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and planning requirements are managed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out field work including noise monitoring, water sampling, and dust collection
  • Ensure compliance with all planning permission requirements
  • Monitor planning permission expiry dates and renewals
  • Conduct audits and environmental assessments on operational sites
  • Implement and maintain company environmental policies and procedures
  • Develop and improve environmental management systems
  • Liaise with local authorities, regulatory bodies, consultants, and residents
  • Work alongside consultants on planning and environmental projects
  • Complete Article 27 forms relating to Soil & Stone and road planning
  • Prepare Waste Return Forms and Annual Returns for regulatory authorities
  • Monitor company waste management and arrange disposal where required
  • Review and approve invoices while allocating costs correctly
  • Carry out monthly waste ticket invoice checks
  • Prepare environmental reports and compliance documentation
  • Support operational managers on environmental matters
  • Assist with environmental input during tendering processes
  • Maintain compliance with environmental legislation and industry standards
Requirements
  • Third-level qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar environmental or planning role preferred
  • Experience dealing with audits and regulatory bodies
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving abilities
  • Strong reporting and data management skills
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Excel and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently and within a wider operational team
  • Full clean driver's licence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Quality focused with strong attention to detail
