Environmental, Health & Safety Site Manager
Posted 5 days 10 hours ago by Next Generation Recruitment
Imagine taking ownership of environmental, health, and safety performance in a busy manufacturing environment where your decisions directly shape how safely, responsibly, and efficiently a site operates every single day.
This is not a "tick-box compliance" role. This is about leading culture, driving standards, influencing behaviours, and building systems that genuinely prevent incidents before they happen. You'll be the key figure ensuring the site operates safely, sustainably, and in full alignment with regulatory and environmental obligations.
Working closely with site leadership, production teams, and external regulators, you'll be at the centre of operational decision-making - where safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement come together.
What you'll achieve (and why it matters):- Take full ownership of site Environmental, Health & Safety systems and performance
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, including EPA licence requirements
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and site-wide standards
- Drive a proactive safety culture focused on hazard prevention, risk reduction, and behavioural safety
- Provide hands on guidance and expert support to managers, supervisors, and operational teams
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement robust corrective and preventative actions
- Oversee and maintain a structured EHS audit and inspection programme across the site
- Ensure employees are fully trained, competent, and aware of their EHS responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define EHS objectives, KPIs, and continuous improvement plans
- Partner with senior leadership to close out non-conformances and strengthen site compliance performance
- Maintain compliance with ISO standards including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 37301, supporting internal and external audits
- Support environmental management activities including waste controls, reporting, and licence obligations
- Use data, trends, and site insights to proactively improve safety and environmental performance
- Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- 3+ years' experience in an EHS Manager or senior EHS role
- Experience working in regulated industrial or manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of EPA licensing and environmental compliance requirements
- Previous exposure to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Experience working in or around licensed sites (IE Licence environment advantageous)
- Exposure to waste licensing or environmental permit systems beneficial
- Strong ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical site controls
- Confident communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem solving
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong Microsoft Office capability and general systems literacy
This is a critical leadership role at the centre of site operations. You will shape how safety and environmental responsibility are embedded into everyday behaviours, systems, and decision-making.
Your impact will be visible - in reduced risk, stronger compliance, improved behaviours, and a safer, more sustainable working environment. This is a role for someone who wants ownership, autonomy, and the ability to genuinely influence operational performance.
All applications are treated in strict confidence.
