University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity to join the ENT team based at Furness General Hospital, near the Lake District-England's largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This location offers an excellent work-life balance in one of the country's most scenic areas.
You will work across Cross Bay with Furness General Hospital as the primary site. The position involves 10 sessions per week, with potential for increased hours based on service needs. Candidates should have broad experience in general ENT; any subspecialty interests will be actively supported.

Main duties of the jobProvide high-quality ENT services as part of the team, including outpatient, emergency, day-case, and inpatient care. Manage your work within departmental policies, exercising initiative to determine work activities.
Working hours: As per job plan.
On-call: 1:5 weekends and 1:4 weekdays, with prospective cover arrangements.
The job plan is subject to change and may involve working at other sites within the UHMB community.
About usWe operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community health facilities including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments and specialist units. WGH provides general hospital services and an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions. All hospitals offer outpatient, diagnostic, therapeutic, day surgery, and inpatient services, complemented by community outreach programs.
Our community services aim to support independence and health management through home visits, clinics, GP practices, and community hospitals.

Person Specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Entry on the GMC specialist register or within six months of obtaining CCT at interview.
- FRCS or equivalent higher surgical qualification.
- Evidence of audit and research experience.
- Higher qualification in ENT surgery, teaching, or research.
- Significant ENT management experience.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Involvement in audit activities.
- Specialist interests in ENT.
- Previous NHS employment experience.
- Broad ENT exposure, including adult, paediatric, and emergency cases.
- Adherence to GMC Good Medical Practice and professional standards.
- Demonstrates relevant knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
- Ability to evaluate and manage patients independently, formulating and adjusting management plans.
- Handles complexity and uncertainty effectively.
- Reflects on own competence and seeks help when necessary.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
