About the RoleWe're seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Mechanical Services scope for a major Defence Nuclear infrastructure project. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this is a pivotal role where you'll oversee engineering delivery from design through to handover within an operational nuclear facility. You'll be accountable for all engineering elements within your defined scope, ensuring compliance with the Nuclear Safety Case and delivering works to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
This is a long term opportunity to make a significant impact on a critical national project, working alongside leading experts and stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead engineering activities for Mechanical Services and supporting infrastructure from design through commissioning and handover.
- Manage design consultants, D&B subcontractors, and project engineering teams.
- Ensure all works comply with the Nuclear Safety Case and relevant regulations.
- Represent the project's engineering aspects to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering delivery.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with Defence Infrastructure Organisation and other key partners.
- Support tendering and mobilisation activities as required.
- Previous experience in engineering roles, with significant leadership experience.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
- Strong background in Mechanical Engineering within highly regulated environments.
- Experience delivering projects in compliance with nuclear safety requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
- Previous experience on Defence Nuclear or similar high security projects.
- Familiarity with collaborative working models, joint ventures, and alliances.
- Active membership in professional bodies such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
