Job Description
DESCRIPTION 
We are looking for a talented Engine Field Service Technician to join our team specializing in Service for Cummins in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom.
This is a permanent role, working Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm.
RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Diagnose and repair complex engine faults, perform overhauls, and troubleshoot a range of Cummins products, including mid-range to high horsepower engines, on customer premises across all of Scotland, including remote islands and occasionally working away from home.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on various markets such as On-Highway, Off-Highway, Industrial, Marine, and Powergen, adhering to Cummins service procedures, standard repair times (SRT), and using electronic tools (Guidanz, ANVL) to complete work and documentation accurately.
- Establish and maintain productive customer relationships by providing prompt and efficient service, ensuring customer needs are met and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on engines and related components, following documented schedules and standards, and elevate unresolved issues to product specialists or supervisors as necessary.
- Coach and develop technicians and apprentices, transferring knowledge and providing work direction, ensuring that repair plans and parts lists are reviewed and followed effectively.
- Complete required documentation, including service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents, using both handwritten forms and business system input screens.
- Identify additional sales and service opportunities during customer interactions, contributing to the growth of the business.
- Maintain service vehicle and tools in good working condition, ensuring cleanliness and proper operation, and adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, reporting any issues to management or supervisors as required.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Extensive experience in diesel engine repair and diagnostics, with Cummins experience highly preferred.
- Proven background in a field service role, engaging directly with customers and providing high-quality service in a face-to-face setting.
- Expert-level knowledge of engine products, with a strong focus on customer service and the ability to provide technical advice and coaching to junior technicians.
- Valid local driving permit, with the ability to communicate effectively across various communication modes, ensuring a clear understanding of customer needs and building strong, customer-centric relationships.
Education / Experience:
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
- Significant field service work experience.
