Location: London (Hybrid working)

The opportunity:

The Energy, Marine and Construction Claims Team Leader will provide a quality-focused claims service and is responsible for ensuring the effective and prompt settlement of Energy, Marine, and Construction claims notified to the Commercial Insurance Energy, Marine, and Construction Claims Team. They will provide effective leadership & development to a team of claims adjusters.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership to a team of claims handlers.
  2. Ensure effective and prompt settlement of claims in the Energy and Construction business area.
  3. Investigate and negotiate claims within defined authority limits.
  4. Set accurate case reserves.
  5. Contribute to high-level technical output from the team.
  6. Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
  7. Manage external counsel and experts locally and internationally.
  8. Handle and resolve claims inquiries from customers, brokers, and third parties promptly.

Qualifications and skills:

  1. Numeracy and literacy skills qualified to A level or equivalent.
  2. Proficient with Outlook and MS Office.
  3. Proactive and innovative in technical claims solutions.
  4. ACII or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  5. Knowledge of products/services offered by the Energy, Marine, and Construction team.
  6. Commercial awareness and market understanding.
  7. Legal and legislative knowledge relevant to insurance.
  8. Experience in the London Market insurance environment.
  9. Interpretation of policy covers.
  10. Strong negotiation skills and analytical thinking.
  11. Team player with excellent customer service skills.
  12. Substantial London Market experience in a similar role.
  13. Previous team management experience (desirable).
