The role
As an Energy Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to influence our people, estates, and future. The role is Rosyth based, with the opportunity for broader collaborative sector wide engagements.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for managing all energy related actions and plans across the Marine Sector, with a primary focus on the energy management and decarbonisation of operations and infrastructure throughout the Babcock Rosyth Facility. You will also:

  • Assess site energy consumption trends and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency. Benchmark site energy use against industry best practices.
  • Identify, develop, and manage projects aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for utility providers, resolving any operational issues effectively.
  • Maintain accessible records of site energy consumption, preparing insightful reports for key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance and progress made towards long-term Babcock goals associated with sub-plans (e.g., PlanZero40).

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.

Essential experience of the Energy Manager

  • Significant post-qualification experience within an energy related roles.
  • Strong ability to influence at all levels, leading by example.
  • Proven expertise in managing change management programmes and demonstrating measurable outcomes.
  • Skilled in building relationships and working effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal results.
  • Experience handling complex, energy-intensive sites, ensure effective management and efficiency.

Qualifications for the Energy Manager

  • A relevant qualification in Energy Systems, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences/Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Membership in a recognised professional body such as IEMA or an equivalent organisation. Working towards or having attained Chartership is preferred but not mandatory.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
