This role is managed by:
Employee Relations Case Manager
Competitive Salary
Midlands (regional remit across Central & Eastern England) Hybrid, with travel
We're partnering with a large, national organisation responsible for managing a significant portfolio of essential public service sites across England, spanning clinical, office and operational environments. As part of a small, highly specialist team, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Employee Relations Case Manager to lead on complex ER matters across a broad regional remit.
This is a senior, permanent role, reporting into the Head of Colleague Relations, and offers genuine scope to influence culture, capability and outcomes in an organisation where people decisions really matter.
The role This is not a high volume, transactional ER position. Instead, you'll focus on complex, sensitive and high risk casework, providing expert guidance and judgement while shaping best practice across the region.
You will:
- Own and manage a portfolio of complex ER cases, prioritising quality, consistency and sound decision making.
- Advise, coach and support managers through investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, absence, performance, discrimination and flexible working cases.
- Provide clear, balanced and risk aware advice on employment law and policy, enabling fair, defensible and values led outcomes.
- Identify themes and trends from case data to inform proactive learning, coaching and early intervention.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture, encouraging informal resolution where appropriate while safeguarding organisational risk.
- Work closely with HR / People colleagues and senior operational leaders to ensure a consistent ER approach across multiple sites.
You'll be based from one primary site in the Midlands, with regular travel across Central and Eastern England. Travel expenses are covered, with occasional overnight stays and infrequent visits to the London head office.
About you You're a confident, credible ER specialist who is trusted for your judgement and comfortable operating in complex, nuanced environments.
You'll bring:
- Significant hands on experience leading complex ER casework within a large, multi site organisation (e.g. public sector, healthcare, retail, logistics or similar).
- Strong, up to date knowledge of UK employment law and HR policy, applied pragmatically rather than theoretically.
- CIPD Level 7 (essential), with a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Gravitas and adaptability - able to influence everyone from frontline teams to senior leaders and executives.
- A calm, balanced approach to risk, weighing legal, cultural and commercial considerations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to deliver clear, straightforward advice, even when the message is challenging.
- Experience of TUPE and consultation activity would be beneficial, though not essential.
You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy a degree of ambiguity, work comfortably at pace and value autonomy and trust over rigid processes.
What's on offer
- Bonus opportunity up to 10%
- 27 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Access to a strong benefits package aligned with an organisation delivering essential public services, including Blue Light Card eligibility
If you're an experienced ER professional looking to step into a senior, regionally influential role where your judgement and expertise will truly make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
