Job Description
Emergency Response Operations Manager

Location: Wales (Hybrid between home and across the local community)

Salary: £33,414 - £35,127 per annum

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: Permanent

The role involves leading emergency response activities across Wales, coordinating with statutory services, managing staff and volunteers, and ensuring resource efficiency. You will be part of a 24-hour on-call duty rota, develop operational plans, monitor performance, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery. Your work will be vital in building resilient communities and positioning the British Red Cross as a key emergency responder in the region.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Leading crisis and emergency response operations
  • Supporting emergency planning with statutory services
  • Advising on the use of British Red Cross assets
  • Ensuring skilled and trained volunteers
  • Using data to improve services
  • Implementing quality assurance frameworks
  • Monitoring activities and managing budgets
  • Providing empathetic leadership remotely during incidents

Candidate requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and related regulations
  • Experience in operational planning and performance monitoring
  • Strong data interpretation and reporting skills
  • Effective communication with diverse stakeholders
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft 365
  • Full UK driving license
  • Experience in disaster/emergency management and budget handling
