The Production Test Equipment department is responsible for developing and maintaining test equipment for aerospace products and systems for various aircraft in a production environment.
The Electronics Test Equipment Engineer will support all aspects of test hardware and software, focusing on the design, upgrade, and maintenance of test equipment for aerospace applications across multiple projects. They will lead and collaborate with project engineers, test operators, and team members to ensure the test equipment design meets all product testing and coverage requirements.
The role includes assisting in New Product Introduction, Total Preventative Maintenance, and supporting team development by working on and improving test equipment to meet product and customer requirements.
- Design, commission, and maintain test equipment hardware and software for use in a production environment, with a preference for developing and modifying LabVIEW or alternative code.
- Understand, relay, and commission test equipment software, especially when working with outsourced suppliers.
- Create and maintain test specifications and documentation for various projects.
- Drive continuous improvement within the test process using root cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with production and engineering to utilize test data for improving product yield.
- Create comprehensive test instructions for production operators.
- Procure and commission test equipment to meet production needs.
- Document test requirements, coverage, and methods.
- Design and build supplementary test circuits for control, protection, and Built-In Test functions.
- Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent.
- Practical design or test experience in an engineering environment.
- Proven knowledge of electronics, wiring, power systems, hydraulic circuits, and software/architecture with LabVIEW.
- Understanding of test and measurement methods, electrical generator operation, and lean manufacturing practices.
- CAD skills including schematic capture and mechanical drawing are advantageous, along with understanding of Generator Control Units (GCU) and Power Distribution boxes or the ability to develop them.
- Quick learner with adaptable approach.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and work autonomously or in a team.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proactive attitude with a can-do mindset.
