The Apprenticeship

We are looking for 2 apprentices to join our Integrated Component and Solutions (ICS) team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). Apprentices will have the opportunity to collaborate with our technical experts worldwide, focused on the integration, development, application, and validation of electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engines, electric drivetrains, and construction machine products.

Training and Degree Apprenticeship

In collaboration with the University of Nottingham, our 6 year degree apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities and gain a degree from a Russell Group University. You will undertake on the job training supported by mentors while completing off the job university studies. Successful completion will lead to lifelong professional qualifications including an Electro Mechanical Engineer degree apprenticeship certificate and a BEng (Hons) Electro Mechanical Engineering.

Apprentices are required to attend university on a block release basis, so travelling and staying over may be necessary.

This degree apprenticeship is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is working towards accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Experience

Apprentices will work on projects to design and develop new product systems under expert staff guidance, complementing university studies to become a qualified engineer and valued member of our team.

Exposure to:

  • Embedded software design and development
  • Control system modelling and analysis
  • Electronic component selection and validation
  • System specifications
  • System level development and validation
  • Product health analysis and quality issue resolution
Entry Requirements
  • GCSEs: Maths at Grade 5 and English Language at Grade 4 or above.
  • A Levels: BBB grades, to include Mathematics.
  • Relevant engineering BTEC qualification, preceding level apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable work experience welcomed.
  • A Levels in Citizenship Skills, General Studies and Critical Thinking will not be accepted.
  • You can apply with predicted grades; if successful, the job offer will be conditional on achieving the required grades before September 2026.

Recruitment Timeline

Go Live: 1st December 2025
Closing Date: 18th January 2026
Interview/Assessment Centre (in person): between 30th March - 10th April 2026
University of Nottingham Apprenticeship Preview Date: TBC - approx. end of June 2026
Engagement Day (in person): 2nd July 2026 (provisional)
Employment Start Date: 7th September 2026 (provisional)

Recruitment Process

Stage 1 - Online Application: Submit before the closing date. We review applications and contact you if shortlisted.

Stage 2 - Assessment Centre: A half day with group exercise, interview, and presentation to assess teamwork, decision making, communication and problem solving.

Stage 3 - Offer: Following the assessment centre, we review feedback and extend offers quickly. All new apprentices attend an Engagement Day before the start date.
