Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Electrical Supervisor to oversee electrical works while delivering high-quality inspection, testing, and compliance across commercial properties. Based primarily in the Portsmouth area, this dual role combines hands-on technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant delivery of services under the Portsmouth Council Contract and other commercial clients.
You will lead and support a team of electricians, ensure statutory compliance, maintain strong client relationships, and manage resources to meet service level agreements.
Responsibilities- Technical
- Provide technical support to engineers and contract manager
- Manage Electricial team carrying out periodic inspections, testing, remedial and fault finding
- If required undertake periodic inspections, testing, fault-finding, and remedial works on electrical installations to support team during peak demand
- Prepare detailed reports highlighting compliance and non-compliance issues
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and standards
- Responsible for monitoring of certification and compliance with all necessary regulations
- Ensuring that the results of inspection and testing are recorded correctly on the appropriate certificates or reports, acting as the contracts Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS)
- Attend regular client meetings to review EICR certification and agree observations
- Process and manage quotes for remedial works, including EICRs
- Oversee resource allocation, planning, and labour management for reactive and planned works
- Attend client meetings, operational site meetings, and subcontractor reviews
- Support accreditation audits and ensure SLA and KPI performance is achieved
- Order materials, manage supplier inductions, and conduct asset/tool audits
- Provide leadership in health and safety compliance across all works
- Carry out site visits, risk assessments, and ensure safe systems of work are implemented
- Lead accident investigations and log near-miss reports
- Deliver toolbox talks, training, and contribute to accreditation audits
- Undertake review meetings with direct reports, setting objectives and development plans
- Support HR processes across the Technical Service area
- Coach, mentor, and motivate staff, promoting company culture and high standards
- Identify training needs to enhance team capability
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
- Previous experience as an Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) in Inspection & Testing
- Qualified Electrician with proven commercial EICR experience
- Experience with CDM, health & safety, and producing RAMS
- Strong knowledge of FM hard services, planned & reactive contracts
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- IT literate with strong organisational ability
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to satisfy enhanced DBS checks
Desirable
- ECS Gold Card
- IPAF / PASMA certification
- Previous supervisory/management experience in a similar role
- Commercial and financial awareness of service contracts
