Electrical Inspector - North London - £45.83 per hour (Umbrella)

A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to join their robust and professional team of electrical engineers working within the residential social housing sector.
You will play a key role in the cyclical replacement of electrical services across a diverse building stock comprising approximately 2,500 residential blocks and over 35,000 dwellings, including more than 200 high-rise buildings. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team committed to improving safety, compliance, and quality in social housing.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys of low-rise and high-rise residential buildings
  • Produce comprehensive Condition Reports and Feasibility Reports
  • Carry out site inspections, including:
    Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers and attend progress meetings
    • Monitoring the progress of electrical works
    • Identifying regulatory, health & safety, and specification issues
    • Maintaining detailed records of project journeys and findings
  • Provide customer care, including resident liaison (occasional out-of-hours work with TOIL)
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including Quantity Surveyors and Main Contractors
  • Ensure quality standards, including snagging and final inspections
  • Support the handover process using the Soft Landings approach to Repairs & Maintenance
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification
  • IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical inspection or a similar role within contracting or consultancy
  • Proven knowledge of electrical installations in domestic and communal residential buildings
  • Skilled in producing technical reports and condition assessments
  • Strong IT literacy and ability to use relevant systems and documentation tools
