Electrical Engineer (HVDC Valve Development)

Required for an initial six-month contract in Sweden, a Senior Electrical Engineer experienced in HVDC Valve Development. You will join an English-speaking international R&D team developing the next generation of converter valves for high-voltage direct current (HVDC). The role involves taking responsibility for the electrical design and integration of high-voltage capacitors in valve units - a key component in ensuring reliable, efficient and sustainable power transmission solutions worldwide.
You will work independently on complex engineering activities, analyse advanced technical problems and contribute to the development of the energy systems of the future.
Role:
-Lead the electrical design of valves, including the integration of cell capacitors.
-Perform design calculations, circuit simulations and load analyses on electrical components.
-Specify, select and qualify high-voltage capacitors for power electronics applications.
-Collaborate with mechanical, insulation, control and system design teams for seamless integration.
-Develop technical requirements, specifications, test plans and validation reports.
-Participate in laboratory testing for validation and reliability in high-voltage environments.
-Participate in digitalisation initiatives related to the development area.
Experience:
-At least 6 years of experience in electrical engineering or R&D in power electronics.
-In-depth knowledge of capacitor technologies for HVDC applications.
-Understanding of power electronic converter technologies.
-Experience with dielectric materials and passive components in high voltage environments.
-Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a team.
-Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
