Elastic Engineer

Elastic Engineer required to work with a government department. This is an initial 12 month contract, paying up to £800 per day, inside IR35, remote working (offices are in London and Glasgow)

Active SC clearance is a minimum requirement prior to commencing this assignment. DV clearance is desirable.

As an Elastic Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, management, and optimisation of Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) within a complex and fast-paced government environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology to support crucial government initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and optimise Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana environments for performance, security, and scalability.
• Design and deploy Elastic solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
• Provide ongoing support for Elastic Stack services, including resolving performance issues, troubleshooting, and conducting root cause analysis for incidents.
• Develop automation scripts for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining Elastic Stack instances.
• Implement and manage security best practices for Elastic environments, including user access control, data encryption, and audit logging.
• Work closely with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to integrate Elastic solutions with other systems and services.
• Maintain thorough documentation for processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Elastic Stack and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and processes.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Must be a certified Elastic Engineer (Elastic Certified Engineer or equivalent).
• Proven experience in deploying, managing, and optimising the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) in production environments
• Experience with Elastic Stack monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning.
• Strong Scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Knowledge of security best practices for managing sensitive data and compliance with government regulations.
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions beyond the Elastic Stack, such as Prometheus or Grafana.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience in working within the public sector or similar large-scale, high-compliance environments.
