Job Description
EHS Lead (Rathdrum & Tallaght)

Zoetis is a leading global animal health company dedicated to discovering, developing, manufacturing and commercializing a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines and vaccines. The EHS Lead will manage Environment, Health and Safety for the Rathdrum and Tallaght sites, ensuring safe, compliant and reliable manufacturing and supply operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure regulatory and company EHS compliance for both sites in a cost effective manner.
  • Implement and maintain an appropriate EHS Management System.
  • Partner with Irish EHS regulatory agencies to maintain compliance status and reputation.
  • Lead the EHS department, fostering a culture of inclusion, agility, continuous improvement, personal development and innovation.
  • Coordinate and manage external contract EHS support.
  • Act as an effective financial steward for all EHS related budgeting and spending.
  • Champion the sharing of programs, learnings and good practices within the sites and the Global EHS network.
  • Oversee risk management in accordance with Zoetis EHS guidelines and local regulations.
  • Proactively plan for and support internal or external EHS audits.
  • Define the EHS related training needs of colleagues.
System Owner / Sub System Owner Responsibilities

System Owner (SO):

  • Provide strategic and proactive direction with respect to the system across the site.
  • Support, guide and coach Sub System Owners.
  • Ensure SSO regularly review sub systems for effectiveness and escalating issues as required with the Quality Council.
  • Own relevant system issues in the site Compliance Plan.
  • Define resources and communicate needs to Site Lead.
  • Apply people change control across sub systems.
  • Ensure SSO have proactive continuous improvement plans.

Sub System Owner (SSO):

  • Provide strategic and proactive direction with respect to their sub system across the site.
  • Regularly review their sub system and present review to the Quality Council as required.
  • Escalate issues to the System Owner and site QRC for action and remediation.
  • Own relevant sub system issues in the site Compliance Plan.
  • Define resources and communicate needs to the SO.
  • Develop and implement proactive continuous improvement plans for their sub system.
  • Ensure clearly defined experts for each sub system during inspections.
  • Oversee documents associated with the sub system and provide input to document owners.
  • Provide comments on new/revised draft policies and guidelines and complete impact assessments.
Organizational Relationships

Reports to the Rathdrum & Tallaght Site Leader and off site to Global EHS. Maintains strong working relationships with site Leadership Teams, Engineering Groups, and contract resources.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering, science or EHS; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant site EHS supervisory and professional experience in active pharmaceutical ingredients or chemical manufacturing plants.
  • Experience with Seveso and/or IPPC is an advantage.
  • Additional experience in plant engineering, production or maintenance is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating effectively in a matrix organization and influencing colleagues outside of direct reporting relationships.
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Self motivated, results oriented, and business focused.
  • Passionate about Operational Excellence: Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Visual Management, Standard Work, 5S, etc.
  • Track record as a change agent and innovator.
  • Knowledge of animal health regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations in Ireland.
  • Strong knowledge and skill in Process Safety, Hazard Analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOPs, What If analyses). Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Management skills.
Physical Position Requirements

The role is primarily based at Rathdrum, Ireland with periodic attendance at Tallaght, Ireland.
