Location: Cheltenham, UK (Hybrid working)

This role is pivotal in supporting our machine shop and direct production areas, ensuring that all employees return home safe, healthy, and well every day.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on

  • Driving a Positive Safety Culture:
    Champion a modern approach to health and safety that focuses on learning from incidents, understanding human factors, and fostering open dialogue with those closest to the work.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    Proactively identify and eliminate hazards, promote ergonomic practices, and support mechanisation and process improvements.
  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    Develop and implement EHS policies and guidance, partnering with leaders to embed safety values and ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001.
  • Engagement and Influence:
    Build strong relationships across all levels of the business, participate in GEMBAs, and create a safe space for open conversations about EHS matters.
  • Operational Support:
    Conduct audits, lead risk assessments, deliver training, manage incident investigations, and support environmental and energy initiatives.

Your previous experience is likely to include .

  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment (e.g., machining, construction, military).
  • Hands-on involvement in EHS roles, including conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards (14001, 45001, 50001) and legal compliance in a manufacturing setting.
  • A collaborative approach to understanding and improving factory life.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across diverse teams.

To be successful in this role you will

  • Demonstrate Company Core Values at all times
  • Hold a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) and have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Be confident in influencing and coaching others, with a genuine concern for the safety and wellbeing of colleagues.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, sound judgement in risk assessment, and the ability to prioritise under pressure.
  • Be proactive, assertive, and capable of leading cultural change through engagement and example.
  • Ideally, bring additional qualifications such as IEMA, ISO lead auditor status, or coaching credentials.
