Job Description

Salary Payment per commissioned piece, depending on length and complexity.

Studyo London is looking for emerging writers, researchers, and content strategists to contribute to a growing body of editorial work exploring contemporary culture, design, digital life, and creative movements through a sharp, poetic, and critical lens. This is a paid, project-based opportunity offered on a freelance basis.

We commission standalone essays, interviews, research pieces, and experimental editorials that go beyond the surface - diving into cultural subtext, exploring lived experience, and articulating overlooked narratives. Each commissioned contributor will be supported by our editorial team to develop distinctive, genre-fluid pieces that respond to our evolving editorial themes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Writing original and reflective work that merges personal insight with cultural analysis.
  • Conducting cultural and trend research to support concept development.
  • Collaborating with Studyo's editorial and creative teams on tone, format, and structure.
  • Contributing to a multidisciplinary conversation spanning art, performance, fashion, architecture, design, music, identity, and digital culture.

We particularly welcome voices that explore the margins-writers with fresh ways of seeing and naming the world, especially those whose work resonates with underrepresented or fragmented forms of experience.

Skills and Experience Required
  • A strong interest in cultural writing, editorial experimentation, and storytelling across disciplines.
  • Ability to write clearly, imaginatively, and analytically.
  • Comfort working with abstract themes, personal narrative, or emerging cultural ideas.
  • Experience with writing blog posts, essays, interviews, or zine-style content (published or unpublished).
  • A collaborative spirit and openness to feedback from the editorial team.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

No prior paid experience is required-we encourage applications from students and recent graduates with a demonstrable interest in writing, media, and cultural research.
