Ecologist to Senior Ecologist

You will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering high quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies, collaborating with our talented team of ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners.

Responsibilities

1. Managing projects throughout their lifecycle prior to and post planning, providing advice on ecology and biodiversity to clients, stakeholders and project teams;
2. Planning, leading on and conducting ecological surveys;
3. Undertaking environmental impact assessments, biodiversity net gain assessments and preparing a range of ecological reports and strategies;
4. Designing and implementing appropriate mitigation measures to enhance biodiversity and protect ecological habitats;
5. Providing expert advice on ecological matters to clients, stakeholders and project teams;
6. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies.

About you

1. Degree level or higher in Ecology or a related field;
2. At least 3+ years experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong focus on project management, conducting surveys, assessments, preparing a range of ecological reports and liaising with clients and wider project consultants to deliver outputs efficiently and on time;
3. Sound knowledge of the UK legislative and planning system, guidelines and best practice;
4. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders;
5. Demonstrable experience in a range of ecological report writing, inclusive but not limited to Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessment documents, Species and Habitat Management Plans;
6. Experience advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, understanding and use of the DEFRA Statutory Biodiversity Metric and production of associated reports and plans;
7. Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM);
8. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Salary: Ecologist £27 32k, Senior £35 40k dependent on experience.
