Ecologist - Senior / Principal

Mission Resourcing are acting on behalf of our environmental consultancy client.

Salary: £35,000-£50,000 per annum dependant upon experience

Our client is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Ecologist with around 4-5 years' experience (or equivalent).

This role is primarily office based, with the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days per week.

Candidates meeting 80% or more of the criteria are encouraged to apply. Transferable skills are welcomed, and both in house and external training is provided, including support with unfamiliar software.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, resourcing and undertaking ecological surveys, including protected species
• Producing high-quality reports, with opportunity to develop specialist expertise (e.g. EIA)
• Supporting project delivery, budgets and timescales
• Client liaison and technical input on survey requirements and mitigation
• Supporting business development and work winning
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members
• Ensuring health and safety compliance

Experience & Skills

• BSc in Ecology or similar (MSc Environmental qualification desirable)
• Associate CIEEM, or working towards membership
• Experience with PEA and UK Habitat Surveys, including complex sites
• Competence in protected species surveys (GCN, Dormouse; Bat licence desirable)
• Good knowledge of UK/EU legislation and planning policy
• Report writing, data analysis and GIS or mapping experience
• Experience across a range of sectors (e.g. infrastructure, energy, industrial)
