The Early Years Educator & Preschool Lead is responsible for the educational leadership and day to day management of the preschool provision. The role includes planning, developing and delivering a high quality EYFS curriculum that meets the individual needs, interests and developmental stages of each child in our care.
EYFS Curriculum & Teaching- Plan, deliver and evaluate a high quality curriculum in line with the EYFS framework.
- Develop engaging learning opportunities that reflect children's individual interests, needs, abilities and stages of development.
- Ensure provision supports the seven areas of learning and development.
- Use observations, assessment and professional knowledge to identify children's next steps and inform future planning.
- Promote children's independence, confidence, communication, language and personal, social and emotional development.
- Provide appropriate challenge and support to ensure all children make sustained progress towards their Early Learning Goals and school readiness.
- Ensure learning is delivered through a balance of adult led activities, purposeful play and child initiated experiences.
- Maintain accurate and meaningful observations, assessments and records of children's development and next steps.
- Adapt planning and provision to support children with additional needs and ensure an inclusive approach.
- Lead and manage the Preschool Room on a day to day basis.
- Provide effective direction, support and guidance to staff.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately and promote effective teamwork.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating high standards of teaching, care and professional conduct.
- Support colleagues in developing their knowledge and understanding of the EYFS.
- Maintain a well organised, stimulating and safe learning environment.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children in accordance with nursery policies and statutory requirements.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment, medication and child protection procedures.
- Maintain appropriate ratios and ensure children's individual care needs are met.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent, nurturing and age appropriate approaches.
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and other professionals where required.
- Develop positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding children's learning, development and wellbeing.
- Encourage parents to contribute to their child's learning journey at home.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, external professionals and other settings to support children's individual needs.
- Support effective transition arrangements, particularly children's transition to school.
The post holder will lead and support the room team, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, safeguarding, behaviour and care. They will use observation and assessment to monitor children's progress, identify next steps and inform planning.
The role also involves working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to support children's development and ensure effective preparation and transition to school.
