The role
As a Driver you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a key part working within a small but highly effective Motor Transport (MT) Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. In this exciting role you'll be required to drive and operate a range of vehicles, ensuring cargo, equipment and vehicles reach their destinations safely and on time. Reporting to the MT Manager/Supervisor you'll integrate across RAF Digby and RAF Cranwell to ensure our operations run efficiently.

Day-to-day you'll be responsible for:

Undertaking driving tasks as directed by the MT Manager/Supervisor
Loading/unloading and restraint of loads
Carrying out daily checks of the vehicle fleet and promptly reporting all defects to the MT Control Office
Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the MT yard and its vehicles
Carry out other tasks within your sphere of experience and capability as directed by the MT Manager/Supervisor

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Digby near Sleaford in Lincolnshire, and approximately 11.6 miles southeast of Lincoln. The shift pattern for this role will be Monday to Friday 07:30am to 16:00pm or Monday to Friday 11:00am to 20:30pm. On occasion there may be a requirement for Day workers to stand in on Shifts to meet the needs of the customer and business, this would attract an allowance of an additional £3.11 per hour that can be claimed by the driver.

Essential experience of the Driver

Previous driving experience in Mechanical Transport and Logistics environment
Experience with Driving hours and Tachographs
Technically competent; familiar with Vehicle inspections
Comfortable deputising for supervisor and/or previous leadership experience (work-related or non-work-related)
Able to integrate effectively with Internal, Civilian and Service Personnel at all levels
Must enjoy driving to various parts of the UK

Qualifications for the Driver

Clean Driving Licence Cat B
Cat D licence
Cat C desirable
C+E desirable
DCPC (Driver certificate of professional competency must already have or be willing to take the course before starting)

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
