Job Description
Position Details

Drama / Music Teacher - Full time, long term temporary role at an Ofsted rated Good secondary school in Birmingham. Start date: September 2026.

Salary: £175 £250 per day.

Key Stages: KS3 & KS4. Contract: full time, long term.

Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging drama and music lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, inspiring confidence, creativity and performance skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons across drama and music, covering practical performance, composition, devising, script analysis, rehearsal techniques and musical appreciation.
  • Assess student progress, provide feedback and create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages creative expression.
  • Prepare learners for GCSE Drama and/or Music qualifications where applicable.
  • Contribute to school productions, concerts, performances and extracurricular clubs, supporting the wider cultural life of the school.
  • Collaborate with the Performing Arts department, and support professional development and enrichment activities.
Candidate Requirements
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); entry level teacher status (ECT) welcome.
  • Experience teaching drama and/or music across KS3 and KS4.
  • Confidence in delivering both practical and theoretical aspects of the curriculum.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to supporting student progress and raising attainment.
  • Passion for the performing arts and inspiring young people through creative learning.
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular performances, productions and enrichment activities.
