Job Description

We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water! We are recruiting for a number of Drainage Engineers to work in two-person teams, covering the whole of Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with us here at Lanes Group.

About the role

Due to continued growth and development, we are looking for customer-focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Southern Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste water network and drainage problems.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to residential sites in a van and use high-pressure water jet equipment for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
  • Deliver good customer service.
  • Maintain safe and H&S practices while carrying out work.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • Use PPE, safe site set-ups and lone worker systems to protect employees, the public and other road users.
  • Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Work unsupervised in all weather conditions using correct PPE and lone worker systems.
  • Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions upon arrival.
  • Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
  • Provide support to colleagues.
  • Inspect tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions in training.
  • Carry out risk assessments with a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
  • Carry out any other reasonable ad hoc duties requested by management.
About you

The ideal candidate will be hard working, respectful and comply with health and safety standards.

Experience in the use of high-pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA, Confined Spaces) are an advantage.

You must have a full UK driver's licence.
