Job overviewBank shifts - Variety of Shift Patterns
We have Bank positions for hardworking, motivated individuals to join the Domestic Services Team at The Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital. These Bank posts are a zero hour contract to cover the following shifts :-
Saturday and Sunday - 7:30am til 1pm and 1pm til 5pm
These roles offer an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team providing essential cleaning and support services within a busy hospital and healthcare environment, operating 7 days a week.
As part of our Domestic Services team, you'll play a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues. We take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and infection prevention, making a real difference to patient care every day.
Full training will be provided, giving you the skills and confidence to carry out a wide range of domestic duties. Responsibilities include cleaning clinical/ward areas, bathrooms and toilets, emptying waste bins, and replenishing essential supplies such as soap dispensers, hand towels, and hand sanitiser. You'll be part of a supportive team committed to delivering an outstanding service across the hospital.
Main duties of the jobAs a valued member of our Domestic Services team, you'll play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Your responsibilities will include the safe collection and disposal of domestic and clinical waste, following established procedures to support infection prevention and ensure the correct waste segregation processes are maintained.
Working closely with the Domestic Supervisor, you'll organise and prioritise your daily cleaning schedule, ensuring all allocated areas are maintained to the highest standards while always promoting the safety and wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors.
You'll carry out cleaning duties in line with the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, helping to create an environment that supports outstanding patient care. This includes cleaning ward areas, sanitary facilities and healthcare equipment, such as bathrooms, toilets, washbasins, showers and sluice areas, with regular checks throughout the day to maintain exceptional standards.
You'll also be responsible for maintaining clean and hygienic kitchen and refreshment areas, including sinks, worktops, cupboards, drawers, cookers, refrigerators and ice machines, ensuring these spaces remain safe, well-presented and ready for use.
Working for our organisationThe Trust's services are provided from three locations:
- The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
- Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.
The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System. Due to its location on the border with North Wales, the Trust also works closely with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The cost of the DBS application will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.
