Do you have experience supporting vulnerable customers, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping people live safely and independently? We're looking for a Domestic Abuse Officer to join our team and play a key role in supporting customers experiencing domestic abuse across our communities. This role is based across Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington, with travel across our operational areas where required. At Torus, people are at the heart of everything we do. This role is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of customers experiencing domestic abuse, supporting them to overcome barriers, improve safety, and sustain their tenancies. You'll work closely with customers, colleagues and partner agencies to provide practical support, complete risk assessments, develop safety plans and help individuals access the services they need. This is meaningful and rewarding work where no two days are the same, and you'll be part of a supportive team committed to safeguarding and positive outcomes for customers and their families.

What you'll be doing:
  • Make initial contact with customers experiencing domestic abuse, carrying out risk assessments and providing advice and support.
  • Represent Torus at MARAC meetings, providing specialist housing knowledge and sharing relevant information appropriately.
  • Work with customers to develop practical safety and support plans tailored to their individual circumstances.
  • Support customers to access specialist domestic abuse services and make referrals to internal and external support agencies where appropriate.
  • Work alongside partner agencies to protect customers, children and families and reduce risk.
  • Support customers to sustain their tenancies and promote independent living through effective case management.
  • Manage a caseload, maintaining accurate records, risk assessments, support plans and outcomes using case management systems.
  • Arrange target hardening measures where appropriate to help customers remain safely in their homes.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with local authority and organisational procedures.
  • Provide practical advice, emotional support and guidance to customers in crisis situations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to deliver joined-up services and positive outcomes.
  • Promote equality, safeguarding, health & safety and excellent customer service in all aspects of the role.
  • Work flexibly in response to the needs of the service, including occasional evenings and weekends where required.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience working within housing, support services or a similar customer-focused environment.
  • Experience supporting individuals or families affected by domestic abuse.
  • Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation, safeguarding and best practice.
  • Experience carrying out assessments, developing support plans and managing caseloads.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Experience working with partner agencies and delivering multi-agency approaches to support.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in difficult or high-risk situations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate case records.
  • A resilient, empathetic and solution-focused approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and excellent customer service.
  • GCSE Grade 3 (or equivalent) in English and Maths or relevant experience.
  • CIH Level 3 or willingness to work towards a Domestic Abuse qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to travel across operational areas and work from home where required.
Interview Process:
  • Candidates will be invited to attend an interview, which will include a competency-based discussion exploring relevant experience, knowledge, and skills required for the role. Interviews will take place at our St Helens Central Office.
