Are you a passionate, dedicated counsellor looking for your next role?

Do you possess, as a minimum:

  • A recognised counselling qualification
  • Current membership of the BACP or another equivalent body
  • At least 2 years relevant experience (including CBT or Client Centred Therapy)
  • A full UK Driving Licence

DMWS are looking for a part time or full time counsellor (21-35 hours negotiable) who has the self discipline and motivation to work with a variety of clients from complex and demanding occupational backgrounds. The role requires in person work in Kettering and Northampton, with additional remote work. Flexibility is essential to meet job demands; this may involve working unsociable hours and traveling with occasional overnight stays (expenses reimbursed according to company policy).

We seek someone with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and compassion for supporting a range of service users, including police and police staff, the fire service, and military veterans and their families.

This is a complex role; in support of Service Users the candidate will work closely with:

  • DMWS team (managers, psychologists, nurses, counsellors, welfare staff)
  • Occupational Health Service
  • Human Resources
  • Other relevant parties

You will correctly assess referrals, identify needs and the resources required to meet those needs, maintaining unfaltering professionalism and sensitivity. You will interact with DMWS welfare staff and assess the holistic well being of our service users. Hours are negotiable, with a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 35 hours; scheduling can be discussed. Salary will be assessed pro rata based on experience.

We offer employees the following benefits:

  • Annual Leave: 30 days a year plus Public Holidays (pro rated for part time employees)
  • Pension: Auto enrolment onto the DMWS workplace pension scheme. Minimum contribution 5% matched by DMWS, up to a total of 6%
  • Death in Service Scheme: Three times the annual salary to nominated beneficiaries (subject to eligibility)
  • Flexible Working: All requests considered; many staff work flexible hours or from home
  • Smart Health: 24/7 virtual GP service, counselling service and online health support
  • Work based Parking/Mileage: Reimbursement of parking fees and mileage claims within HMRC guidelines
  • Enhanced Sick Pay: Scheme for all employees after completion of the probationary period
  • Staff Recognition: Recognition by leadership team and peers via internal events, internal social media and industry awards
  • Personal Development Programme: Support for continuing professional development and training
  • Great training opportunities
  • £25 contribution towards eye tests and £50 towards glasses for DSE use only (not for standard prescription)
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption family friendly benefits
