Divisional Operations Director - SWNS (Surgery, Women & Neonates)

Main duties of the job

The Divisional Operations Director for the SWNS Division is a crucial role in the Trust. The division focuses on surgical, women's and neonatal specialties, with a brief to optimise out of hospital provision and service transformation in conjunction with local partners and stakeholders.

The role requires a proactive senior leader committed to running outstanding services and reducing health inequalities. Strong experience managing community services and a proactive, creative approach are essential.

Job responsibilities

Deliver strategic leadership for the SWNS division, oversee service transformation, manage budgets, lead change initiatives, liaise with partners, develop business cases, and ensure quality and value of services.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications
  • Master's level or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in health or management or equivalent experience
  • Degree level or equivalent professional qualification
Skills / Abilities
  • Lead strategic development of a complex business
  • Analytical and conceptual skills
  • Use power and influence to develop and improve services
  • Make decisions with thorough analysis
  • Strong written, oral, presentational and interpersonal communication
  • Communicate effectively with senior trust members, including board
  • Lead a high performing team
  • IT literate (proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoints)
Experience
  • Managing a complex multidimensional division or directorate
  • Leading teams, supporting and developing staff, managing poor performance
  • Managing staff and non pay budgets
  • Implementing change management projects
  • Business case preparation, presentation and implementation
Knowledge
  • Acute hospital and community services

  • Current changes and developments within the NHS
