Pension Risk Transfer

The Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) team was formed in 2021 to design bulk purchase annuities and alternative de risking products for UK Defined Benefit pension schemes. The role supports the origination and execution of buy ins, buy outs and other transaction structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Market, originate and execute bulk annuity and de risking opportunities, structuring transactions and negotiating with trustees/companies and their advisers.
• Produce high quality deliverables for clients and senior internal stakeholders, including checking, reviewing and delegating work to junior team members.
• Coordinate colleagues across the business and outsourcing partners to integrate commercial, investment, longevity, pricing, legal and structuring workstreams into strong client propositions.
• Develop a deep understanding of bulk annuity transaction structures, reinsurance solutions and new product lines.
• Build strong, beyond transactional relationships with EBCs, trustees and other key stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve potential transaction issues early, working collaboratively to deliver practical solutions acceptable to all stakeholders.
• Mentor and energise talent within the team and across the M&G business.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Commercially minded with strong technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to drive projects forward.
• Some knowledge and experience of pension risk transfer transactions is essential; role level can be flexed to reflect experience.
• Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
• Strong communication skills, able to understand and capture client needs.
• Ambitious and self motivated, able to work independently and within a team.
• Ability to prioritise workload to meet multiple strict deadlines.
• Demonstrable leadership and management skills for a senior role.
• Knowledge of alternative de risking, capital and reinsurance structures is beneficial.
• Familiarity with deal execution activities; role level flexed to reflect experience.
• Qualifications: Qualified Actuary or CFA preferred, but not essential.
