Job Description
The Director of Technology and Data is responsible for defining and executing Control Risks' technology and data strategy, and roadmap, ensuring maximum business value is achieved from the use of scalable technology and data across the business, based primarily on the Microsoft technology stack. They will work collaboratively to strengthen the partnership between technology, data, and the business.
The role will govern the selection of new, innovative, value-driven technologies and balance this against the benefit to be derived from existing investments in technology and data.
As part of the DTS senior leadership team, the Director of Technology and Data will work alongside peers, delivery teams and product owners to define integrated technology, data platforms and processes, which in turn will support/prioritize investment decisions.
The role holder will provide architectural leadership, oversight and input in support of client facing technology and data through the digital transformation (4D) initiative.
This leadership role will support and nurture a culture of 'learn and share' across teams, building communities of experience and expertise, and foster data literacy across the business in support of the digital transformation agenda.

What You'll Do: Overall Architecture
- Create an Enterprise technology and data vision, strategy and architecture for Control Risks
- Own, define and govern the Enterprise technology standards used and deployed across Control Risks
- Communicate the architecture strategy, standards and implementation throughout Control Risks, gaining stakeholder support at all levels throughout the organisation.
- Lead, guide and work in partnership with stakeholders across DTS and the business to execute the overall technology strategy, data strategy, and systems architecture to support Control Risks growth and business strategy
- Recommend significant changes to the technology and data architecture to business and technology leaders, and advise on benefits and impact
- Ensure organisational adherence to the Enterprise technology, data and systems architecture through the ownership, definition, governance and implementation of standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Work closely with the platform SMEs, solution architects and product owners to ensure architecture is deployed in a coherent and consistent manner, it conforms with Architecture Principles and that deliverables are aligned to strategy
- Provide strategic frameworks and architectural support to the delivery of key projects and products including MyControlRisks, Microsoft Dynamics (D365) ERP, Microsoft Copilot (Simon Says) as well as the maintenance of existing products including Vantage Online and IntelHub.
- Establish and chair the regular Technology, Data & Systems Design Authority forum
- Work with DTS senior leadership team and DTS function heads to define the roadmap for integrated, cost effective, value-driven technology platforms, helping to plan and prioritise investments in partnership with stakeholders across the business
- Provide architectural support in the translation of business need into technology deliverables
- Support technology and functional subject matter experts ability to evangelise the art of the possible to product and business owners
- Work with functional heads to define a technology lifecycle management process to ensure 'Tech Debt' is managed within each functional domain
- Provide high-level designs for key technologies
- Own the creation of the data architecture strategy, and Common Data Model (CDM's).
- Define and be accountable for a corporate road map that delivers data classification (Common Data Model), Master Data Management capability and data ownership/accountability.
- Work closely with Data Product Owner and Data Engineering Team to define the roadmap for all data platforms, master data planning and the prioritising of investments in partnership with stakeholders across the business.
- Work with legal and security stakeholders to support data governance, ensuring legal and policy compliance with our use of data at every stage.
- Support operational excellence - ensure we exploit our own data to maximum effect within our business, working with stakeholders across Marketing, Finance, HR, Strategy.
- Through data architecture capability, provide high-level design and data modelling services to data products
- Provide through data architecture capability, detailed data schema designs to digital products
- Identify areas of change within the organisation's operating model / organisational structure to better make use of data.
- Lead and manage a team of hands-on solution and data architects
- Build and lead 'virtual' community of solutions architects that sit across DTS functions e.g. Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, Information Security, etc to ensure output is aligned to strategy
- Build 'virtual' community with Data Product Ownership and Data Engineering to ensure end to end alignment, from strategy and design to business need and build.
- Develop excellent working relationships across the organisation, building a technology and data culture of 'learn and share' across teams and regions.
- Support an innovation culture, bringing together business, data, and technology to drive value to our business and clients.
- Build communities of interest and specialism around data exploitation techniques and applications.
- Be highly motivated, committed, authentic and compelling, as they will be required to engage across the business, working collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
- Have a track record in defining and building enterprise technology, data and systems architectures, from strategic planning and investment through delivery.
- Have significant leadership experience within a technology and data enabled business.
- Have significant operational experience of enterprise technology, data and systems architecture, based on the Microsoft technology stack, helping to embed these within a business.
- Have comprehensive understanding of the data, systems and technology landscape, and the opportunities it presents for our business.
- Work collaboratively across the business to engage, support, and enable change.

- Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (or equivalent cloud certs) within Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
