Job Description
Overview Locations: Hull, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Bath, Colchester, London Harrow or London Hatfield, United Kingdom

We run junior summer courses for English language students aged between 10-17. We have students from all over the world. The majority will be Italian, but we also have students from Spain, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Argentina and Cyprus to name a few! Students usually stay for two weeks and take part in a mixed programme of lessons and activities/excursions which are run by Activity Leaders.

Mission At Target English International we aim to provide our students with a comfortable and caring setting in the UK to improve their communication in English and develop skills for a more global society. We want our students to leave the course with a better understanding of UK culture and the inspiration to become life-long learners of English.

Overview of role
  • Job Title: Director of Studies
  • Line Manager: Centre Manager/Academic Manager
  • Pay rate: Competitive, dependent on contract type + full-board accommodation and holiday pay
  • Dates: June to August
  • Hours: As required (typically 48 hours per week)
You are a competent teacher with significant experience in the EFL and summer school industry. You will have overall responsibility for the successful implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, which includes managing the academic staff and their performance. In addition to optimising our students' academic programme and environment, you will also ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times. Management, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential requirements for this position. Our aim is to ensure our students make the most of their academic programme and, as Director of Studies, you will make this happen!

EU citizens who have previously worked in the UK may be eligible for the Frontier Worker Visa, which makes them eligible to work in the UK.

DBS checks and cost All posts defined as 'regulated activity' are subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. If your application is successful, we will ask the DBS/PVG for a Disclosure and you must declare below to give your consent before this can take place. The cost of the check will be shared 50/50 between Target English and the employee, with each party to contribute approximately £25 (subject to change). This will be deducted from the first payroll of the summer.

Please note: If you are a non-UK national or a UK national who has lived outside the UK for the last 5 years you must also provide us with a Police Certificate of Good Conduct (or similar) from your country (or previous country) of residence that is less than six months old.
