Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking an exemplary and dynamic Director of Social Services & Housing to lead our innovative services and drive transformative change.
As the Director of Social Services & Housing, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic management of our Council. As part of the Corporate Management Team, you'll work closely with the Chief Executive to achieve our overarching objectives. Your visionary leadership will ensure compliance with statutory requirements, government guidelines, and the Council's ambitions for Social Services & Housing.
Leading an expert team, you will:

Design and lead the provision of Adult and Children's Social Services, transforming access and delivery to meet residents' needs.

Ensure robust and effective safeguarding arrangements to protect vulnerable adults, children, and young people.

Direct and manage the Council's Housing Strategies, addressing homelessness, allocations, and statutory landlord services.

Oversee budgets and resources, ensuring efficient and effective use.
We are looking for a leader who is not only experienced and highly skilled but also visionary and innovative. You will have a proven track record in senior leadership roles within social care services, housing, or local government. Your ability to adapt to change, work collaboratively, and make strategic, evidence-based decisions will be essential. Crucially, you will know what first class services look like and will know how to help staff and Elected Members achieve these standards within a demanding environment.
