Job Description
Director of Learning - Jewish Museum London

Job Title: Director of Learning

Hours: Full time

Location: Jewish Museum London, London NW3 6ET

The Jewish Museum London has undergone significant transformation over the past two years, moving from its Camden site to a Museum without Walls model. The opening of Two Rooms by Jewish Museum London at JW3, together with a recent £1 million grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), marks an important new chapter in the Museum's development. These milestones provide the platform from which we are reimagining the future of the Jewish Museum London through new exhibitions, learning programmes, partnerships and public engagement, while working towards a new permanent home.

Learning and engagement are central to the Museum's future. This pivotal role will lead the development of a new learning strategy and programme plan, engaging new and existing audiences with Jewish history, culture and contemporary life. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and experience of devising innovative learning strategies and programmes that inspire participation through in-person, digital and hybrid delivery.

Our Museum is made up of passionate and expert staff and cares for a collection of more than 35,000 objects, accredited and designated as Outstanding by Arts Council England. Our award-winning learning programmes engage almost 30,000 learners each year, and visitor feedback is consistently excellent. However, our ambitions extend far beyond our current success. We are looking to expand our reach, profile and impact, creating a museum with national influence through its exhibitions, learning, outreach and digital activity.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Learning will have significant experience leading and developing learning and engagement programmes within the museum or cultural sector, together with the ability to inspire and lead a team through an ambitious period of organisational transformation. This is an exceptional opportunity to develop a sector leading learning and engagement programme for a reimagined Jewish Museum London, building audiences today while helping shape the learning vision for our future permanent home.

Deadline is midnight on Friday 28 August
